team development for project teams
you are
A programme and project delivery team in a public sector organisation. You turn strategy into outcomes: managing programmes, projects and change initiatives that improve services, systems and infrastructure. You plan delivery, set timelines and milestones, track progress, manage risks and dependencies, and keep governance and reporting on course. You may run transformation or improvement projects, oversee major capital or digital programmes, or provide support and assurance through a PMO or portfolio office. You work closely with policy, operations, finance and procurement teams to align priorities, manage resources and measure benefits. You help your organisation deliver complex work more effectively, translate ambition into action and ensure results stand up to public scrutiny.
we are
A collective of experienced trainers and coaches who design and deliver team-based professional development programmes for public sector organisations.
We build CPD-accredited programmes around your team’s live work and priorities, helping strengthen collaboration, raise standards, improve team dynamics and re-energise people around shared goals.
what is it that we do for project teams
We provide team-based training for public sector programme and project delivery teams across government departments and agencies, local authorities, NHS trusts and public bodies. Each programme is built around your live projects, programmes and change initiatives. We blend practical training, facilitated reflection and structured follow-up so that learning improves how your team plans, communicates and delivers. The result is sharper governance, stronger collaboration and more consistent delivery of benefits and outcomes.

What is the GC Index
Every Teamshaper programme starts with understanding how a team works. The GC Index is one way of gaining that insight. It’s a simple but powerful framework that shows how people make their greatest impact at work. Rather than analysing personality or job title, it highlights the distinct ways individuals naturally contribute to a team’s success: by generating ideas, shaping strategy, driving delivery, refining outputs or connecting people.
For public sector project and change teams, it provides a shared practical language for understanding how each member leads, collaborates and adds value. Seeing the collective profile helps identify strengths, gaps and where energy is concentrated or missing, insight that can make any development programme more targeted and effective.
The GC Index is an optional add-on to Teamshaper programmes, used where it adds clear value.
To help you experience its benefit, we’re offering a free no-commitment individual GC Index assessment and review for leaders or members of public sector or third sector project and change teams in the UK (organisations with more than 50 staff, one free assessment per organisation).

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Teamshaper specialises in bespoke team-based training for public sector organisations. Our programmes are built using 7 CPD-accredited modules that capture and distil many years of experience working with public sector teams. They provide a proven foundation while allowing each programme to be shaped around the organisation’s objectives and context.
We start by agreeing clear outcomes with the client, then design a programme that uses the team’s real work as the learning material, builds shared commitment within the team, and ends with documented actions and practical next steps. Where possible, programmes include a follow-up session to revisit those commitments, embed learning and refine what happens next. The result is training that creates habits teams continue to use in day-to-day work, making a lasting impact on how the team works.
-
Teamshaper specialises in training for intact teams, because working with a team as a team can strengthen shared commitment and ongoing support.
We also deliver training for individuals and groups, including leadership cohorts and cross organisational groups, where that is the right approach. All learning has an individual component, and programme design always includes personal reflection and practical application. The format is chosen based on what the client is trying to achieve.
-
Working with Teamshaper is collaborative, attentive and refreshingly straightforward. We take the time to really understand what your team is experiencing and what you want to achieve, then shape the right programme based on that conversation, our experience, and what we are seeing work with similar teams across the public sector.
You can be as involved as you want to be. Some clients like to stay close to the design, others prefer us to take the lead. We ask the right questions, propose a clear approach, and make it easy for you to influence the programme without having to manage it. Where helpful, we can also support with practicalities such as internal communications, attendance and delivery logistics.
-
Yes. Teamshaper programmes are CPD accredited.
-
Most Teamshaper workshops run as a full day (typically 7 hours including breaks), and some are designed as a half day format where that better suits the objectives and operational constraints. We also use our Teamshaper in Minutes micro-learning model to deliver short bursts of training at regular intervals over time.
Programme length is shaped by what the client wants to achieve. When organisations commission a single focused workshop, we often recommend an optional follow-up session several weeks later to help embed learning and revisit commitments.
We also design longer modular programmes delivered over time. In all cases, the structure is designed to support the outcome, rather than impose a fixed format.
-
Impact is defined before any design work begins. At the outset of each team training programme, we work with the client to define the outcomes that matter and to agree what evidence will demonstrate progress. These outcomes might relate to confidence, behaviours, ways of working, decision making or delivery.
Our approach to measuring training impact is structured and explicit. We establish a baseline, capture the commitments and actions agreed during the programme, and gather structured feedback at the end of delivery against the agreed outcomes. This forms the basis of a post-programme Impact and Value Report, with clear data, summaries and visualisations that can be shared internally.
-
Teamshaper meets public sector compliance requirements and is an approved supplier on the Crown Commercial Service Learning and Training DPS (RM6219 and RM6124) and the YPO Training Solutions DPS (000999).
We comply with the Procurement Act 2023 and hold Cyber Essentials certification, appropriate insurance and ICO registration. Full details are available on our Public Sector page.

Teamshaper uses a transparent pricing structure based on the time spent designing and delivering your programme. Work is charged at a day rate, with any additional costs, such as travel or materials, agreed in advance and billed at cost.
Because Teamshaper operates as a collective of experienced trainers rather than a large agency, overheads are kept low. This means clients get specialised facilitation and programme design without paying for layers of account management or unnecessary infrastructure. Pricing is straightforward, predictable and proportionate to the work being delivered.
