George Foulkes is a Labour Peer who was an MP for 26 years and a Member of the Scottish Parliament for 4 years.

He served in the Government of Tony Blair, first as Under-Secretary of State for International Development and then as Minister of State for Scotland.

In the House of Lords he has been on the Intelligence and Security Committee and is now a Member of the Constitution Committee.

A graduate of Edinburgh University, he was President of the Student Council and subsequently a Member of the University Court.

He is a football fan and served as chair of Heart of Midlothian FC during its 2004/05 rescue from liquidation.
