leading change

Half-day masterclass for public sector professionals who want to build confidence in leading change with people, not just plans.

Focused on practical, human-centred approaches to understanding what’s changing, engaging others early, and turning change into clear actions that stick.

    • Understand what change is (and isn’t) in day-to-day public sector work

    • Diagnose what’s really driving the change and what might get in the way

    • Engage people early and build trust, clarity and shared ownership

    • Lead change conversations with more confidence, even when emotions run high

    • Turn intentions into practical next steps that people can follow through on

    • Maintain momentum and learning so change becomes normal, not exhausting

  • This is a practical, structured masterclass built for people who haven’t necessarily had to lead much change before.

Participants work through a shared scenario to practise each stage of the DELTA Change Model, then apply the same approach to a real change they are involved in.

The session is interactive and people-focused, combining short inputs, guided discussion and practical exercises so participants leave with a clear next step they can use immediately.

    • Half-day masterclass (3.5 hours)

    • Can be extended to a full day to cover additional objectives

    • Delivered in-person or virtually

    • Mixed groups from across teams

    • Level set to match the group on the day

    • Up to 20 participants

    • From £1,800 per session

  • 09:30 – 09:45

    Introduction and context

What change looks like in everyday work, and why people's experience matters as much as the plan.

    09:45 – 10:30

    Diagnose

Make sense of what's changing, what's staying the same, and the pressures and constraints shaping the situation.

    10:30 – 10:45

    The Change Curve

A simple way to understand common emotional responses to change and what people need at each stage.

    10:45 – 11:15

    Engage (the most important phase)

Learn practical ways to involve the right people early, surface concerns safely, and build shared ownership before decisions harden.

    11:15 – 11:30

    Break

    11:30 – 12:15

    Lead

Practise the core leadership moves that help people navigate uncertainty: clarity, listening, consistency, and honest trade-offs.

    12:15 – 12:35

Neuroscience of change (why people resist)

A simple explanation of how uncertainty triggers threat responses in the brain, why habits are hard to shift, and what helps people feel safe enough to adapt.

    12:35 – 12:50

    Transform

Turn the change into practical actions, roles and routines so the new way of working becomes real, not just talked about.

    12:50 – 13:00

    Accelerate

Build momentum through feedback, small wins and learning loops so progress continues after the session.
