thinking strategically

Half-day masterclass for public sector professionals who want to strengthen their ability to step back, see the bigger picture and think more strategically about their work

Focused on helping participants look beyond immediate tasks and pressures, understand how different elements of their work connect, and develop a clearer view of context, direction and longer-term impact.

    • step back from day-to-day activity and assess work more broadly

    • understand how different areas of work connect and influence each other

    • recognise patterns, trends and underlying causes

    • take a clearer view of direction and longer-term impact

    • approach situations with more structure and perspective

  • This is a practical, structured masterclass built around shared scenarios and individual application.

Participants first work through a common case to explore what strategic thinking looks like in practice: stepping back from the immediate issue, understanding the wider context and identifying what sits underneath the situation.

They then apply the same thinking to their own work, testing their perspective with others and building a clearer view of what is happening, why it is happening and what it may lead to next.

The masterclass finishes with each participant identifying a clearer strategic perspective and a practical next step they can take forward.
